I had never had the filet at Ruffino's before and was very very disappointed.

Thinking about giving it another shot, but don't know. Anyone else get the filet there?

Not saying I won't be going back because I love their other entrees, but was surprised at how lack luster this particular dish was.

I'm a guy, I don't order a filet at restaurants, so no.

Last 2-3 visits there have been pretty meh. I haven't had the filet but the ribeye was very underwhelming, along with the side of potatoes. Underwhelming is being generous with the potatoes, they downright sucked.

Agreed, but service and attention to detail were impeccable.

The spinalis and mushroom bread pudding is my go to. I really enjoy that place.

I'm not a fan of Ruffino's. It's a big ball of meh.

I was there on Friday night and the only steak on the menu was a fillet soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......

I'll say I was also very disappointed in the overall experience. Food was much worse than the last time I went there (probably about 2 years ago) and the service was downright awful. I probably won't be back, which is disappointing to me since I used to be a big fan of this place.

All filets are lackluster. They are vehicles for a sauce or crabmeat. Like the tilapia of the cow.

Only filet I ever ate or ordered was at Christians in Mid City and only because it was stuffed with oysters. I do miss that restaurant.

Yeh BR's own 'Spank the Monkey' is jamming out some smoking hot cover songs in the wine bar.

I wasn't going to be that ugly, but since YOU said it, I agree.

They are vanilla. I'll eat it if it is topped with crabmeat or a fried egg or a New York Strip.

Too lean-no flavor.

i ONLY order a filet at restaurants

id rather that then a fatty ribeye

to me a filet is a lean flavorful cut and you can really tell the quality of a nice one. my favorite is from Bobs Steak and Chop in Dallas, shite tastes like butter

Don't want to pile on but not a Ruffino's fan either. The only thing I think is top quality is the Crabmeat Cheese Cake.

I've done it twice. It was a mistake other times. Stick to their seafood.
