Did the beer change? Or are your taste buds just not impressed by that beer, anymore?

I had Hopslam a couple of years ago, and I didn't think it was all that great. It turns out that it was about 6 months old.

The sacrifices we make.

2/3BD are a regular Sticky Hands and the hopped up variant Sticky Hands Tropical Slam. Will report on results soon.

FBD is a Side Project Saison du Blè

Chardonnay BA wheat sour saison. Really good.

Sweating some LSU basketball.

Nugget Nectar

First year I managed to pick some up. Its pretty old school, not super tropical and is pretty sweet, good beer, but cant stand up to most New School IPAs.

Yeah, that is how I remember it. Not top tier, but very good still. A little sweet and malty.

I am more malt tolerant than many on here, but I do prefer the almost zero malt IPAs.

For me the last Enjoy By Unfiltered was a perfect DIPA it had the tropical hops just right amount of malt and some of that dank earthy taste.

OK, I am about 3/4 through the 2 SHs and here are my impressions:

The regular/original is dank and full of tropical fruit and citrus hops and has a resiny, clean brightness to it with a nice, clean, resiny hop bite on the finish.

The Tropical Slam is as advertised. It has more tropical fruit and less citrus (especially in the nose) than the regular and the fruit seems riper. The taste follows suit and the mouthfeel is slightly bigger and chewier.

We are talking degrees of greatness, particularly in comparison to what we can get down here, but I prefer the original recipe. More is not always better and in this case I think the extra hops caused the Tropical Slam to lose the brightness and focus of the regular SH.

Hail Jax!

I loved that one too. I think I drank my last one last Saturday.

When were you at AU? I ask because I have several cousins that are AU alums.
