No beers yet, but I did see where a place here in Shreveport got some Bayou Teche 5th anniversary persimmon sour. Anyone had this?

Haven't posted in a long time, but 1st4BD too good not to share. After careful consideration before opening my mouth (or starting my fingers),
GitM>Pliny>Double Jack>Sculpin.
I'm no homer and I think I tried to talk myself out of it. Pliny the Elder is officially the only beer I've absolutely loved and been disappointed in all at the same time. Didn't expect it, but give me Ghost, you take the Pliny! Tried 'em blind, but I drink too much to be fooled!

I don't say this about beers much, but Smells like rotten cheese. It was just foul.

FBD was a New Belgium Slow Ride. Second time I've had it, and I find it enjoyable. One of the better session IPAs, for sure.

I wish all these side by sides would be all equal freshness.

The thing that I don't see people mentioning is that these small breweries have significant variations from batch to batch. That, coupled with the differences in the freshness of the beers you are tasting and the order you drink them in, could result in completely different results the next time you taste them.

I'm sure the Andrews are still tweaking GitM and G&G, as well.

I find these batch inconsistencies to be a plus, rather than a minus. It's like you're getting a different beer every time you try an IPA from a small brewery. It can be frustrating, but I like it.

no doubt

and I think most would agree that this is probably the best batch of Ghost

but this batch of Ghost compared to a 2 week old Pliny...it was even close IMO

obviously it would depend on how you like your IPA/DIPAs

a 3 month old Heady held its on against a 1 week old Ghost, which is a testament to just how great Heady is as well

I don't think this can be said enough. Pliny and Ghost are so different, even if they are the same style. Pliny is all Columbus and Simcoe, while Ghost is a Citra bomb.

I still love Pliny even if there are others that I may enjoy slightly more.

Has anyone tried Not Your Fathers Root Beer? My local bottle shop just got some in and I am thinking about picking up a few.

Prolly just going to grab an RPM over at Old Chicago for lunch and catch the first half of the game. Then I'll find a tv in the building somewhere that is showing the 2nd half and sit in front of it with my laptop and try to get some work done...
