St arnold wasn't much different than abita but they still sell tons of lawnmower and amber year round while also putting out great stuff like endeavour and DR series and Bishops barrel... Brock knows where their bread is buttered but they still make some "street cred" offerings.

Exactly. Im not a fan of st arnolds year round lineup, but their special brews have been on point. Nb for that case as well. No reason abita couldnt be like that. They obviously have the resources.

Isn't this the difference?

SBD: Abita IPA.

After having that Timber Beast, what a huge step down.

They've probably over extended themselves by being in as many different markets as they are. No real reason a brewery in Abita Springs, LA is the 17th largest brewery...

They still could try a little harder with some special stuff though.

I actually said it wasn't a bad beer the first time I had it last week. This was probably because it was my only beer of that night. It's just unfair to compare something like TM to Spring IPA though.

Ditto. St. Arnold's regular lineup is nothing special, but Endeavor, the DRs and Bishop's Barrel show that they are trying and succeeding at making great beers.

Give it the tetu treatment. Life is too short to drink inferior beer.

FBD and only one - Harviestoun Old Engine Oil Engineer's Reserve

Had never had this and really liked it. Perfect for after dinner.

I'll be in BR this weekend. Besides Calandro's, where should I go to make a beer run? Looking for stuff I can't get in Lafayette.

What is this "Brewing Network" I keep reading of?

....it's an internet radio show that is also a podcast. They have multiple different shows such as The sunday session, Can you brew it, and Brew Strong.

I'm currently plowing through the 8 or so years of backlog on the sunday session because I commute about 3 hrs/day.

The Session can vary from light to medium homebrew info with plenty of GREAT interviews of just about every brewery around to some grabassery/sophomoric humor.

I find it very entertaining yet informative. Listened to a few episodes I found interesting such as Abita and Deschutes a year or so ago and decided to start from the beginning in 2005. I'm now in the middle of 2011 and listening to an episode with the guy from Cantillon.

Came real close to picking this up yesterday. Wasn't blown away by the regular so I passed. Saw this was billed as more cocoa notes.

Calandros, Mathernes (2locations), and whole foods.

The place out on Florida, beverage store or something. B knows.

I don't waste beer, unless it's absolutely undrinkable (old beer or something like wild blue )

It's not terrible, just so so so so so boring.

Never had the regular but could definitely taste the cocoa in this one. I'm becoming a big fan of chocolate beers.

Thanks for the reccomendations

Speaking of Cocoa notes.. I cocoa nibbed the porter that'll eventually go in the Bourbon barrel for Zapps.

Come out and visit if you'd like a taste.
