I received one as a graduation gift. What are some of your favorite things to make in it?

I'll be interested in following this thread. Got a Vitamix off my registry and will be breaking it out for the first time next week. Thinking after these last three weeks of eating like crap and not exercising that a juice cleanse is in order.

I just got one. So far, have just made various fruit smoothies. Made with combos of yogurt, milk, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apple, grapes, mango, orange, bananas, etc. Freeze some of the fruits to keep from having to use ice. Or look on the freezer section at the store. They have tons of frozen fruits and combos marketed to smoothie makers.
Have added flax seed and/or AllBran Buds cereal to some. Both have tons of fiber and just disappear in the drink. Threw fresh spinach in a couple. Doesn't really affect the taste.
Added a dollop of almond butter or peanut butter on occasion. A glug of club soda at the end gives a little fizz to brighten one up. Honey is also a good add.
All have been real good, but spinach and blueberries in the same one yielded a color like mud. Tasted fine, but looked rough.
I plan to try making tomato soup soon. Kenji says you can put in the ingredients and let it rip. The Vitamix speed will heat/cook the soup in a few minutes. I've seen some folks have success and others call bullshite. We'll see.

I've made a cheese broccoli soup in mine. The friction from the blades will cook it in a few minutes.

Do you peel all of the citrus fruits or do you drop them in whole?

Roasted cauliflower and garlic soup.

1 cup Oikos triple zero vanilla yogurt
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 scoop vanilla protein
fistful of spinach
handful of ice
But you can use your vitamix for other things that you wouldn't think about a lot.. you can shred chicken for chicken salad, for example.

I bought the certified reconditioned 5200. My advice is to buy the 5300 it has a stronger motor and a shorter 64oz cup. You can find it for the same price as the 5200.

I peeled, the orange. I've read that you can throw the banana in unpeeled, but have not tried it.
Have not read of citrus going in unpeeled. Could imagine that being bitter, but who knows.
I peeled the mango. The apple was cored but not peeled.

Whole fruit and vegetable smoothies. Add a little OJ or carrot juice and it will whip it into something approaching enjoyable.
