I'm not talking that american crap; I'm talking the authentic $1.50 double-corn tortilla wrapped deliciousness.

we have 2 favorites here in nashville; one in east nashville and one in franklin.

both serve FLAMING DEATH creamy avocado/jalapeno green sauce

My top 5 NON-SEAFOOD are:

1. Suadero - spicy mexican pork that pairs exceptionally well with the onions, cilantro, fresh-squeezed lime juice and the nuclear green hot sauce that brings tears to my eyes (and my intestines several hours later)

2. Al Pastor - pork (or beef sometimes?) grilled with pineapples brings a bit of sweet to the charred meat. delicious

3. Chorizo - can't go wrong with mexican sausage. if there's not red sauce dripping onto your plate, you're doing it wrong.

4. Barbacoa - bbq pork yes please! a little fatty sometimes but who cares when your taco is only about 3 bites anyway?

5. Pollo/Asada - Beef & chicken tie for me. I like both but the flavors of the 4 meats above are head and shoulders above these.

SEAFOOD

1. Fried fish tacos > grilled fish tacos and thats just a fact.

2. Grilled shrimp tacos > grilled fish tacos

3. Grilled fish tacos

and nothing beats having dos equis and pacifico on draft to wash it down!

What are you favorite tacos?

Barbacoa may be beef cheek. But it doesn't have to be. It could be goat, pork whatever. It's Caribbean BBQ

If their pastor is beef and barbacoa is pork, they are doing it wrong

true but generally speaking Mexican spots mean meat from the head of cow in the states.

One day I am going to do the whole head in a smoker, one day.

What place in Franklin are you referring to? Nashville's got a lot of authentic taqueria trucks.

Check out the one on Franklin Pike (close to The Sutler, Sinema) or the one by Belmont on Wedgewood. Also, Nolensville Pike and Murfreesboro Pike has got some great, authentic taquerias.
