Or Scotch for drinking neat or on the rocks..

Had a rough day yesterday and sadly liquor cabinet was bare... Only possessing a bottle of Don Julio and some Jack Daniels..

JD was a bit to violent on my palette...

And something reasonable in price $50-75ish

Tomatin 12 Year is a solid, affordable single malt.

ETA: I get it for about $30 a bottle, so it's on the low end of your price range. Makes it low risk in terms of trying it out. A buddy of mine is a serious connoisseur of scotch and he was very surprised by this one.

Not big on straight whiskey, but I found Four Roses Small Batch to be quite enjoyable.

Can find several good ones for less than that. Some have already been mentioned. I'll also add

Blanton's
Elijah Craig
Basil Hayden's

What's your normal choice? Are you a bourbon guy? Scotch?

If you can get your hands on a bottle of the pappy van winkle 12 year it's worth the $70. Sought after bourbon though may have to order online.

I'd also look at eh Taylor single barrel or small batch. Go ask for Ben at calandros he can put you in the right direction.

Does Crown have some sort of connection with Louisiana? That stuff is the go-to down there. I rarely run into anyone else who drinks it.

Good question...could be the purple and gold bag.

I just finished a bottle of Aberlour 12 Year. It's about $50 and one of the easiest drinking scotches I have had. Has a nice sweetness to it, and not a lot of peat flavor. Just simply easy to drink.

I have to admit, that had crossed my mind.
