Epicurious.com: Commander's is some kind of hidden, insider secret in NO

LINK

Here we go, another "insider" hipster article about New Orleans. I can't fathom how someone professing to be a food writer in New Orleans determines that Commander's is some well-kept local secret. Which is too bad, because it's an otherwise solid list.

After reading her bit about Commander's, I think she is referring to Commander's lunch with 25 cent martinis being more the local secret than the restaurant as a whole.

She's a knowledgeable local writer -- although, maybe not originally local, she definitely understands the restaurant scene here.

The Commanders thing has to be some weird inside joke on her part. It's clearly one of the top 5 well known places in the city.

I thought the inclusion of Bacchanal on that list was odd, also. I love the place, but its always jam packed.

Yea, but the average visitor to the city wouldn't know of it.

I read that list yesterday and am confused by three or four places on the list.

Who the hell thinks Midendorfs is a secret restaurant of some kind.

Just a misleading title. The sub-heading is more apt:

"An insider's guide to the best places to eat well in the Crescent City"

Also, the last sentence in the intro:

"It is in that spirit that I offer you an honest list of places that this New Orleanian finds indispensable"

Roahen turned in the copy, the publication writes the headlines.

The two dont always meet in the middle.

Good list.

Commanders needed a better explination.

Taceaux Loceaux? Please. They need to learn how much salt goes on a taco.
