Eliza's Restaurant (Review with Pics)

Been hearing about this place more and more through word of mouth and finally the GF and I gave it a try for lunch. They don't seem to do much advertising, but after reading good reviews in the Advocate and 225, my GF wanted to eat there so we did and brought her mom as well.
The restaurant is tucked in a corner of a shopping center off Jefferson Hwy near Bocage. It's behind the CC's Coffee and you'd never know it's there unless searching for it. The restaurant is decorated subtly like a bistro. It's very casual but serves Louisiana food with a slightly elevated flair. I found the restaurant itself to be very stuffy and warm, but my GF who is always cold found it fine.
Started with Crawfish and Spinach dip. Served with housemade chips, it was tasty though a tad under seasoned. I also had a cup of the Gumbo Ya-Ya and it was very good.
GF's mom got a shrimp poboy and it was one great looking sandwich. GF orders the yellowfin tuna melt with the tabbouleh and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I ordered the crab cakes with asparagus and corn maque choux. All very fresh and delicious.
The service was excellent and the manager was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend giving this place a visit as they look to be another solid addition to the Baton Rouge dining scene.

Great review. I've never heard of it. Only one pic of the tuna is showing.

Fixed! Not sure why it was giving me so many problems.

The crab cake dish looks outstanding.

They were both huge and filled with crabmeat. Some shell, but such is life with real crab. They come with fries but I got the asparagus in an attempt to not be a complete fatty

That place ain't bad. Expensive, but not bad.
Also, this is why I don't post reviews.

I'd rather asparagus with those, too. I thought they were part of the dish. They should be.

Everything I have had there has been outstanding.

Asparagus has never affected me.

The po-boys are legit. I was told they get Leidenheimer bread delivered each morning.

They get that good German bread sold as French bread from a city steeped in Spanish culture.

Looks really good. My only knock is that the corn looks (chewy, starchy, tough). I love my sweet corn.

It was actually pretty good and more on the "crisp" side, which I liked.
It was vastly different to the maque choux I had at BRQ, which was still good, but had so much roux in it it felt like eating a subtle corn pudding.

I live nearby and have been saying I want to go for a while.. but it's tucked away in that shopping center and I tend to forget about it

The last time I went I got the shrimp poboy and the bread was great but it didn't have near enough shrimp. It was cut in half and I ended up just putting all the shrimp on one side and eating that. Now the crab cakes, they were awesome and I will get them again soon.
