Went to the Lafayette location last night and had the aged strip. It was one of the best steaks I have eaten. The wife had cedar plank redfish that she enjoyed as well. The whole experience was top notch.

A strip being one of the best steaks ever? Your snorkel must be filling up with that 8+"
of rain in Lafayette.

Why would a strip not be one of the best steaks? What might you believe would be the best?

A good prime strip has the perfect combination of marbling and tender velvety meat. No issue with someone calling a strip the beat steak they've had.

Yep.
Delmonico's dry aged strip is the best steak I've ever had.
I don't think filets are all that most of the time.

This is the key IMO. Most people aren't buying prime beef at their grocery store, and a strip really needs that extra marbling. On the other hand, I can have a really good time with a choice ribeye.

I haven't had a filet in a while. I like them, but I like a little more fat in my steak. Hard to beat the texture of the filet, though.

Eta
Yat has it. HEB puts out some great cuts, but it's usually a game time decision based on what's available. I always start with the strip. If none of them have the marbling that I want, I leave with a ribeye.

We ate at the BR location, everyone had great meals, Ruffino's is always top notch. That being said, why do nice places like this frequently have such dreadful coffee?

The average drive through has better.

Considering you picked a filet over a strip and apparently have not had a strip shows me why I can discount your posts.

Why do people have to declare everything as "the best ever" or even better, argue with someone else's opinion of what is their "best ever". Ruffino's is outstanding. I have never had a bad meal there. I couldn't tell you my greatest steak ever, because it's never crossed my mind. I guess that's what ESPN's done to us, by convincing us we're watching "the greatest ever" every night.

I guess I get what you are saying about nitpicking who's opinion is more valid, but what's wrong with someone saying something is the best they've ever had?

He didn't declare it was the best ever. He declared it was his best ever.
