Dry aging beef at home looks fun and easy once you spend a couple hundred bucks to get setup. I really think I would enjoy it. Here is the rub. I have never eaten dry aged steak before. Before I go diving headlong into it, I would like to try it at a nice restaurant to see if I like it enough to make it a new hobby.

That brings me to you guys. Of all the nice/higher end places in NOLA, do any of them serve dry aged steak?

Doris Metropolitan will be the best and the most expensive. Crescent City Steak House is much more casual but they dry age their steak and it is very good.

You can buy dry aged beef at some Rouses. I'm pretty sure the one Downtown has them.

Yep. Rouses on Tchoup sells dry aged beef as well. Buy some there to see if you like it. Spoiler alert: it's awesome.

I buy a whole tenderloin or ribeye, take out of the vacuum pack, wrap in cheesecloth, store in crisper drawer of fridge for 20 days.......Emeril showed this on his cooking show 20 years ago.....works perfect!

Had the dry aged ribeye at Delmonico last week and it was flavortown. Got the aged strip at Doris and it was maybe flavortown suburbia. The more I indulge in steakhouses, the more I prefer quality meat cooked at home (sear/reverse sear) other than instances of celebration.

Delmonico's dry age >>> Doris
Full disclosure, it's been a while since I've been to delmonico's and I've only been to Doris once, and maybe I just got a bad cut that night but I wasn't impressed with Doris.

We will be eating at superior seafood with the wife's work buddies and they have a 40day aged strip. Anyone tried that?

If that doesn't work out, I guess we will need to hit up delmonicos on Wednesday. Will we need a reservation? Is there a dress code?
