Don's Seafood has increased prices, changed menu and cut their portions.

I went to Don's Seafood on Airline today. My family and I are regulars. Well, guess what. They have increased each food item (appetizer, lunch, dinner, kids)across the board. Each item has increased from 2 to 5 dollars. It added 26 dollars to our bill (2 adults, 2 kids); I know cause we always get the same thing.

They also changed the menu; deleted more items than they added. And portions are smaller.

Absolutely terrible, will not return and we've been going for years. Looks like we will be looking for a new place to dine. Anyone else notice this Don's downfall?

what a dick.

I guess this means they are only using half a stick of butter per plate as opposed to a whole stick.

I literally ate the most disgusting meal of my life there about a year or so ago. The étouffée was the quality of a frozen lean cuisine. Even their hush puppies were gross. Plus, the atmosphere at the Airline location is downright depressing.

Yes, a lot of people say that but I've been going ever since a kid so I guess it's been kinda a sentimental thing.

You really eat at Don's and expect it to be good?

I see you posted about sentimentality. I went there as a kid in the late seventies and early eighties but my folks disliked it and we went elsewhere. at some point desire for good food trumps sentiment.

Haven't been to that location but it has always been overpriced. If these changes make the food better it mayyyyy be excusable.

Are you asking what we ordered?

Shrimp & Artichoke Dip - Discontinued so we got Spinach & Artichoke dip

4 Margarita (should have been 2 for 1) Small glass
2 cokes

Shrimp & Catfish Platter
Shrimp & Alfredo Pasta (then a cup of gumbo with main meal for 3.99)

Kids cheeseburger
Kids catfish

$82 and some change (not including tip)

I meant inexcusable for them to go up on their prices, but shrimp prices are up this year.

When I go out to eat, it is typically either for convenience, or I expect to eat something that the restaurant can cook better than I can. For $82 I think I could cook that meal better. I say find a new restaurant.

Don's Seafood BR was recently sold I believe.
New owners.

I haven't ate there in years, but the gumbo used to always be great.

Duke Landry is out.

I've eaten there since the 60's and as of a month or so ago it was the same but like anyplace like that you have to know what to order and not stray too far. Gumbo, jumbo fried shrimp and crawfish bisque. About all I'd have and the gumbo is top notch and the bisque is best around.

I'll pop in for lunch this week and take one for the team.
