Do I cut the bottoms off of Brussels sprouts?

Gonna roast some and not sure if it matters on something so small

I usually nip the tip and then slice in half down the longer axis.

I don't think it matters, though. I do it because a lot of them will have dried brown spots on the ends.

I do then halve them. I toss them with 3 slices of dice uncooked bacon. Salt & Pepper.

After I take them out of the oven, I will toss them in a Thai chili glaze or drizzle with balsamic dressing, olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan & Romano.

Is it me or are Brussel Sprouts really gaining in popularity? I see more and more people eating them.

I love them. I never had them as a kid, although I remember them having the stereotype of a nasty veggie. They are the best roasted imo

Some people have a gene, known as TAS2R38, that make Brussels sprouts and other cabbages taste bitter to them. Removing the stems helps people with this gene enjoy them.
