I'm hoping for a nice romantic experience..is this the place? Any other recommendations for restaurants near the Omni Royal? Menu suggestions?
And yes I did a search..

Romantic- Yeah, sure but the food is pretty mediocre.

I would rather go to Meaxbar, Revolution, Sylvain.

Pretty sure we had this exact thread yesterday. Look harder.

i think Kingfish is pretty good. Tableau i hear is also goof. I don't think Muriel's is bad. The last meal I hadd there was quite good. Do they push the culinary envelope? No, but its a pretty damn solid place to eat.

Goat cheese crepes were very good.

It's been some years since I've been there and I haven't been since the latest chef change, but it didn't appear the menu changed much when I last checked. I've always enjoyed my meals there and the meal deals have been pretty reasonable. They are not extraordinary, however.

I think it depends in which room you eat as to whether it's romantic. I like the room on the right as you enter especially if you get a table overlooking Jackson Square. It's nice to go upstairs on the patio for a pre or after dinner drink. A drink in the Seance room is also fun.

If you decide to go to R'evolution, which I much prefer over Muriel's by a lot, ask for a table overlooking the hotel courtyard. Those tables are sort of aligned along the window and there aren't many in the section though it does open into other areas of the restaurant. Since the tables are not on top of each other, it feels a bit more private. It's not a loud restaurant. I think you'll enjoy it more for your purpose.

Thanks for the help .. After reading your responses I've changed my mind and have booked at R'evolution! Their website told me everything I needed to know.. I wanted to have a special night and this place fits the bill perfectly.. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate each one.

Look into the Reveillion Menus. That's kicking off pretty soon, there was a thread on it very recently

Definitely romantic. I've never had a bad experience there.

Recommendations:

Crawfish and goat cheese crepes
Bayoubaisse
Pecan Pie

Regarding other suggestions..

R'Evolution - Solid choice, but nowhere near the price point of Muriel's. You can get a 3 course meal at Muriel's for $39.

Kingfish - I thought it was pretentious, and the food just wasn't good.

Sylvain - I've been twice. I really wanted to love it, but just didn't. Thought it was just o.k. A good friend of mine swears up and down about it, and she was with me on the last visit, and was very disappointed.
