Hey guys, long time lurker here. Been following the FBD threads and checked Winston Cup's Florida beer thread before posting (Jai Alai, MIA Mega Mix, Cigar city beers, and Grayton beers sound great). Looking for advice on other local (Destin) beers to try and where to get them.

Also, is the brewery itself the best place to get Modillion/ Grapefruit Holy Roller?

TIA for helping a newbie hunt down some good beer.

Modillion can probably be found on shelves at certain stores. Grapefruit Holy Roller wasn't distributed so if there is any left its at the source.

Here is a yelp search I did for breweries and beer in destin for you. Never been to any of those, but you can start there.

Will check the yelp search out, thank you. Do you/y'all recommend any certain websites when looking for beer? Untappd, etc.

@ No8Easy2

I really liked the Sunshine City IPA in addition to the ones you listed. Although i am not the best source as i usually get drink to get drunk and to hell with the taste

I will get on Beer advocate and check out its ratings if I am unfamiliar with a beer. Other than that no, I just sort of search local places.

Go to Idyll Hounds brewery. It's about a 20 minute drive from Destin. FANTASTIC BEER. They had some really juicy shite and also some amazing barrel aged stouts and some great sours. If they have the Cucumber Mint sour, get it. It is the most refreshing beer I have ever had.
Grayton beers are dogshit. They are actually on the same street as Idyll Hounds. I wouldn't waste my time/money on that. They are kinda like the Tin Roof of Destin. Great marketing but shite beer.
As for bottles, you want to go to Chan's Wine World like the other poster said. You can get growler fills there - but you are better off just getting a growler filled at Idyll Hounds.

There's a little brewpub called Prop's just into Fort Walton Beach that I enjoyed. Pretty solid pub food as well.

The World Of Beer in Destin was decent enough.

link to "World of Beer" in Destin. It is a bar, but i went to one in Fort Myers and they did a build your own six pack. I would check here, the bartender let me sample some off draft before purchasing.

eta: i was able to leave with the unopened six pack

Thank y'all for so many suggestions. Just checked out Chan's wine world online, and that place's selection is huge. Could probably spend forever in there looking at the beers!

@Winston Cup, checking your link now.

You don't say.

I recommend Magnum, St. Ides or Old English

Does anyone know the beer situation at a Publix? Is the selection comparable to a good Rouses location? Will be in Watercolor this weekend and there is one in the area. Plan on stopping by Craft Bar and Growler Garage.

Also MIA mix pale ale pretty available? Ive had Cigar City and Funky Buddha but haven't tried MIA yet.

Not sure but please let us know what you find. I'm in Destin for the first half of our trip and Watercolor for the second half.

last year the selection at the Publix closest to Seaside/Watercolor was pretty week. They did have a few decent things, mostly Cigar City stuff. I did pick up some MIA at Modica Market in Seaside, they had a pretty good selection.

Like others mentioned Idyll hounds is good plus the usual stuff like cigar city and jai alai. I agree to stay away from the Grayton beers - they're just not very good. Last time in the area I also found a dark beer I really liked from appalachicola - hooter brown by oyster city. If you're in to darker beers you can find growlers of it here and there periodically. Kwiker liquor in inlet beach has a good selection.
