Going there with my wife this week for her birthday. I've been to pretty much every other steakhouse in New Orleans but just wondering if anyone has any recommendations at this place (special cuts, apps, sides).

If you've been to Mr Johns it's pretty much the same as far as the steaks go

Strip or the tomahawk filet

They have this kick arse pork belly app, and not sure its always on the menu but another app I like is fried oyster with bacon and blue cheese.

Well that's promising. I've been there a handful of times and loved every meal.

Got the ribeye and the cut was very good but the sear not so much. Everything else we had was delicious. Nice setup also

Yep.
I've been hearing rumors that Desi is going to open up some kind of wine bar or restaurant in old Metairie.
Anyone else hear about that?

They're taking over a recently shuttered Phil's Grill in Harahan. Maybe this is what you're hearing?

Not sure but old Metairie could use a high end wine bar. Every bar around there is a dump. Oscars, Winstons, Martin's, etc. With all the money in that area you would think there would at least have one upscale establishment.

Exactly.
Martines attempt at being a craft cocktail bar is a joke.
Fck Oscars.
Winstons is ok, but could be so much more

Just got in from dinner.

Loved the meal.

We split The Who dat shrimp, my wife got a filet I ended up getting the 14 oz ribeye (not the bone in ribeye) and we split the Freddy mac and cheese which was mac and cheese with andouille as our side. Ribeye was very flavorful.

We also split the white chocolate bread pudding. I liked it but I have had better.

I thought the service was very good. When I booked the reservation I was asked if we were celebrating anything and I said it was my wife's birthday. When I got the bill they told us that the dessert was on the house. I thought that was a nice touch.

Loved the restaurant itself too. Would definitely go back.

Thanks to everyone for their recommendations
