Deschutes is opening long-anticipated east coast brewery in Roanoke, VA.

LINK

The best beers that Deschutes makes are the one offs that they sell in their brewpubs, but their everyday lineup is solid, and they usually run in the $8.99-$9.99/6 pack, making them a pretty decent value for the money. I see it on sale for $12.99/12 pack, every so often, too.

This probably means the distribution to LA is inevitable. Although Fresh Squeezed, Black Butte, Mirror Pond, Red Chair, and Obsidian are not beers I pursue, I do enjoy them very much when I do drink them. Their seasonals are all very good, as well.

This may not excite people on this board, but more choices is not a bad thing...

I love Fresh Squeezed and their barleywine, Mirror Mirror. Not sure if they ever made more than one batch of it, though.

I was there over Christmas. They have some good local IPAs.

Get Bent was my favorite.
They seem to have a nice little beer scene. deschutes should do well there.

They release Mirror Mirror every 4 years, or so.

Hopefully, they will open a brewpub there in Roanoke, as well. Their brewpubs are fantastic, and the have a lot of "brewpub only" beers to try.

From Deschutes I like their Obsidian Stout on nitro quite a bit. The Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale is good. Fresh Squeezed is good. Black Butte porter is good. I had a one of their sours at beer festival here in STL recently and I really liked it. It's one of the breweries that I would like to visit.

Gotta build it first. Then they have to work it out with distributors. 2018 at the earliest would be my guess.

Beer advocate says construction begins in 2019. I'm not holding my breath.

That's good news. A lot of my wife's family lives in and around Roanoke. It's a surprisingly cool town with a lot of good local bars and restaurants.

Same here. Wife's sister/her Bil and kids are up there.

I liked it up there. I ate and drank well the whole time.

Yes it is. Their brewpub in Portland is great, too. If you're ever in Portland, you can hit up Deschutes, Fat Heads, 10 Barrel, and soon Breakside. All fantastic, and all within a few blocks of each other. That's the nice side of the river. All the dives where I hang out are on the other side of the Willamette.

Personally, I like a nice Chainbreaker while on the patio of Sunnyside at Tahoe.

La, no luck.
