I searched, but only found recommendations for mostly eating. I'll be staying at Hotel Monaco in Penn Quarter, and am looking for a place to enjoy some regional craft beers somewhere relatively close, but don't mind a little travel. Any help is appreciated, and TIA.

Just a quick few ideas of spots within a block or two of your hotel. Almost all of these will have local brews.
Iron Horse (7th St.) is just around the corner and has a good beer selection. No food.
RFD (7th St.) has beers from everywhere and is just up the street. Pretty generic, otherwise.
Matchbox (H St.) is close and has a good, but not huge, beer selection. Good pizza, sliders and also more upscale food.
Pi Pizzeria (F St.) is also good pizza and a nice beer selection.

We were there in February and had some very good dinners. The Old Ebbitts Grill near the White House is a historic place with a nice bar and very good food. The Blue Duck Tavern in the Hyatt was very good. If you are in the mood for something exotic, try Rasika for Indian food and Zaytinia for Middle Eastern food. Tosca was an excellent Italian restaurant. We went to a Mardi Gras jazz dinner at Central held two days after Mardi Gras because of a snowstorm. That was another very good meal.

Most of the local breweries are very meh. Pi Pizzeria has solid pizza and a good beer selection.
