Crawfish Boil - What do you put your fixins in?

Planning a boil in NC, so the stuff that's usually easy to find around Louisiana is hard to come by.
If you use a bag for your potatoes/sausage/vegetables/etc, where did you find/buy it? I had a mesh bag I used for years, but can't find it or anything similar to it in stores. All my internet searching to order one is coming up empty as well.

You can use the sack your crawfish came in.

Hmm last I checked, crawfish come in a mesh bag.

The water. Some ppl use the mesh laundry bags but i dont think there is any point in separating fixings at all.

I like to put all my lemons/onions in the water outside of the basket and then throw the potatoes in and boil in the basket before you put the crawfish in. Add corn and mushrooms and whatever when you kill the fire and soak. This way all that's on the table is the good shite, and they're mixed in nicely together.

Mesh laundry/lingerie bag.
Corn and mushrooms go in there so they can come out when spiced right while everything else continues to soak.

As mentioned, look for a laundry bag. In Wal-Mart they are typically near the luggage. If you get the "b-size" potatoes you can just drop that whole bag in the water.

Do you potatoes first then keep them in a sealed cooler they will stay hot. When you turn off the heat to soak your bugs, throw in your veggies that you don't want to overcook like your corn cobs, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts....

Why put them in a cooler?
I cook my potatoes (some halved) in plain water ahead of time on the stove, and throw them in with the crawfish and leave to soak. They are perfect every time and saves a lot of boil time.

I always boil my veggies/fixins first. Well everything but the corn, I put that in while the crawfish soak.
I either put them in a small ice chest to stay warm, or put them in a platter with a piece of foil over it.
If they aren't warm enough for you once the crawfish are done, you can always drop them in the basket once the crawfish are out and put them in the water for a minute or two to reheat.
I hate having to dig through all kinds of shite to find what I want, and don't like ending up with mashed potatoes all over my crawfish.

Why not just leave them in the pot? You take them out to have more space?

I put them all in together. I'll eat the onions and garlic all day.

Ok, I'll grab one of the laundry bags.
Typically, if I'm doing a boil and going to just dump the pot out on a table I wouldn't worry about it. But this is a situation where people will be filling up a tray. I'd like to have all of the fixings separate in its own ice chest so someone can pick and choose what they want, instead of picking through the crawfish to find a potato or corn.

It's just what we do... gives people something to snack on while the bugs soak for 20-30 minutes. We also toss them around in some clarified garlic butter and a little of the boil power....it dissolves in the hot butter and tastes fricking awesome on the potatoes
