Craft cocktails for Saturday-Update and Old Fashioned question

Having some friends over Saturday eve to watch football.
I'd like to offer 3 cocktails. I'm not an expert bartender, but want to branch out from beer, wine and highballs.
I don't want to buy a bunch of off the wall ingredients, so even basic suggestions would be appreciated.
UPDATE-
Went with Old Fashioned, Tequila Sunrise and Reese's Martini
Question about the Old Fashioned. I followed a recipe and there drink was quite small volume wise. It looks like a large volume in pictures. Are they usually made as doubles? Did I forget something obvious?
It was delightful, btw.

Old Fashioned
Rocks Margarita
Mint Juleps. Are they simple? I believe they are another 2-4 ingredient cocktail. Sounds very girly but puts you on your arse. Most of the liquid is alcohol.

All great suggestions. Might also want to go with the Moscow Mule. It's a great summer drink since it's still hot as balls outside.

So far I like these ideas:
Old Fashioned
Mint Julep
I've made margaritas a lot, so kind of tired of them. Gin and Tonic and Moscow Mule are more what I would call mixed drinks or highballs, so I want to branch out a bit more. Although I love them both.
I am probably going to go with a Reese's Martini for one of my choices.

You can do a Moscow Mule. For a whiskey-based cocktail, below is one of my favorites right now. Even ladies like it, but it's not girlish looking, so men won't mind drinking it.
Devil’s Mirror – Bourbon, St. Germaine liquor, Agave Nectar, Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice.

French 75. Best cocktail ever.

Sounds interesting!

Never understood this idea. Seems like the people concerned with this are generally masking some sort of insecurity.

That does sound awesome.
Mo, you have the recipe for the Devil's Mirror? I looked it up and can't seem to find the details.

One of my year round favorites. When it's super hot outside I like to muddle a cucumber slice and a few basil leaves in the bottom of the glass before pouring the cocktail. Garnish as normal with a lime. Just adds a little extra refreshment, IMO.

Everyone loves Moscow mules, I will also throw out Dark n Stormy. Same thing but use dark rum instead of vodka. I don't drink cocktails very often, but that is my favorite.

You should do 3 different alcohols for your drink selections. If you like the mint, then go with Mojito (rum) rather than MJ. Or do the following:
-Daiquiri (rum 2oz, lime juice 1oz, simply syrup .5-1oz).... this one is simple; just shake and pour over ice or martini glass
-Vodka Sour (1.5oz vodka, 1.5oz sweet sour mix, 1 egg white).... this one is ridiculously great. The key is shaking the ingredients WITHOUT ICE for about 30 seconds. This allows the egg white to froth up. After that then put ice in shaker and shake, then pour over ice
MAKE YOUR OWN SIMPLE SYRUP AND SOUR MIXES!!!
It's easy and will set your drinks far above the garbage you buy in the store.
Simple Syrup: equal parts sugar and water, then boil over medium heat until fully disolved
Sweet/Sour syrup: same as simply syrup, but add equal amount of lemon/lime mixture once removed from heat. For instance: 2c sugar, 2c water, 2c lemon/lime juice (that's 1c each of freshly squeezed lemon and lime)

pick up a bottle of simple syrup it will help making those drinks alot easier, also if you dont have Angostura bitters please get some, makes a difference
ohh and get a "good" bottle of bourbon, it doesn't have to be expensive
Eagle Rare, 4RosesSB or small batch, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek, and others- just not Benchmark!
ok done, drinks are important to me

Do the unanimous swallows and you should be okay. These guys (especially Dean) are very particular about their drinks.
Audio of how she makes them with more recent drink ideas. You will have to listen to the end to see how they were received by the testers.

what are the proportions for this? I like the sound of it, and I can not find a recipe online anywhere. Is this something you created?

Bourbon- I'm a huge fan of the Old Fashioned as already suggested.
Gin- I like the Bees Knees Bees Knees recipe
Tequila- A simple margarita with tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, and Grand Marnier. Or, just mix tequila and Fresca or Grapefruit San Pelligrino. Sounds a little weird but it's really good.
