You can't recreate that environment. Just comes off as kitschy and manufactured.
This reminds me of a very short lived restaurant in the North called Zydeco, which featured New Orleans cuisine...riiight. We had an Entertainment discount, so my lady friend and I gave it a go. There was nothing Louisiana about the interior except for some paper masks that were taped to the walls.
We started with a dozen raw oysters. They were entirely warm with not even a hint of chill. Asked for crackers to go with them and the waitress pointed out that they're shucked already. Mentioning that we were looking for saltine crackers and they had none. No Abita Amber either. The place was a complete poser, so I understand about your comment about a German place in the South.
There is the Jäger Haus in New Orleans which I haven't tried because I grew up with staunch German cuisine and am apprehensive to try a Louisiana take on it, even though I love a good sauerbraten. Southerners claim that Yankees can't cook soul food, so I'm sure it's the other way around.

It's got a hell of a lot of competition to fit into a New Orleans rotation though.

yup...they don't have many on tap, just 3 or 4...the rest are in bottles. Had a good german beer on tap, but can't remember the name (Warstein was the company).
It's not a very fancy place, but I remember I thought it was funny that the manager was from Hungary

If the one in New Orleans couldn't stay open, BR could not cut it.
Please explain this.

I think the general idea of a 'German Bier Hall' could work in Baton Rouge, but they'd have to adapt the concept for Louisiana. Local craft brews, boudin, sausages, other local fare, liters of Canebrake or Voodoo Bengal or NOLA Brown, open bench seating. It could work, if adapted right.
Agreed. The Bulldog does well and its a similar concept, albeit a bit more of a bar than a "Bier Hall".
My gf and I frequent Frankford Hall in Philly when I visit her...we always say how well we think something like it would do in LA. Food is good too, not sure why German food is getting hate in here.

I agree. It's hearty comfort food. When done well, like any dish, it can be outstanding. And sometimes, you just want something different.

They serve breakfast until 2pm. If that's not ideal for New Orleans, I don't know what is.

They have an awesome one in pearland.

Precisely. Sounds miserable. As is usually the case when trying to export an atmosphere outside of its natural habitat. A big plate of sausages piled on top of french fries on a 95 degree Louisiana summer afternoon sounds like a terrible time already, then add in shitty piped in Germanic music and cubby sweaty fräulein waitresses .. just doesn't appeal to me.

It's whatever. Nothing spectacular. Only german food I've had in La. I've liked is Taste of Bavaria on the northshore. If you're looking for an ethnic restaurant in the Quarter check out Bennachin.

Taste of Bavaria closed...
We tried to stop in there on the way to Bogalusa a while back. I will miss that place.

An indoor/outdoor biergarten would kill in BR if it had the right location. It'd need to be a neighborhood establishment in one of the older neighborhoods. Finding the right property that has favorable zoning and a lack of NIMBYs is the only way.

It'd never happen, but the area next to the Pentagon would be perfect.

i dont think we can take you seriously, even if you would have responded in somewhat coherent english
german food defenders will sink to the lowest lows(ad hom/h8ing on brs only real rbpb) to distract from the fact that the food is doodoo

That lot on Brightside and River Road could work

The location where the Roux House is, would work also.

You would need to follow the Tsunami model. Have an indoor/outdoor rooftop bier hall downtown that overlooks the river. That said, I don't think it could work if it is operated as an authentic bier hall (strictly German beers and food).
ETA: Actually, I don't think it would work at all.

That's what Pinetta's is for.
