I'm positive this has been discussed on here many a time but I need some help.. We're looking to roast a pig for Christmas and trying to think of different was to approach it.

Here's some of our ideas: cinder block pit, improvised smoker, building a cajun microwave, or just digging a pit (not sure about this one)

Which ones have ya'll done before or is best? Any tips, suggestions, or input would be great!!

Four 4x4s in the ground, three sheets of galvanized tin between them, two pieces of re-mesh and suffiecent amount of 9 wire to hold pig and pipe to hold the whole thing. Wood fire at the back and learn how to turn it every fifteen minutes by hand, as a chain holds it up. Six or so hours, enjoy the cracklins that are able to be made from the skin. Your grandpas did it.

Do not use galvanized metal. It is bad for you.

Build a Cajun microwave and use stainless.
