Chef's Tasting Menu- Coquette
Posted by Oenophile Brah on 12/19/15 at 10:04 am34
While on the subject of Chef's Tastings, I wanted to mention my meal last night at Coquette. It had been several months from my last visit, but last night solidified my opinion that Coquette is the best restaurant in New Orleans.
Had a few drinks at the beautiful bar prior to being seated. We all agreed to do the blind chef's tasting even though there were several dishes on the menu I wanted to try. The 5 course meal was very well balanced to include different temperatures, textures, and flavor profiles. I can't say it enough, Coquette is clicking on all cylinders and should be part of any NOLA-foodie adventure.

yeah, don't tell us what you had or anything that may be useful
From what I remember, we had tuna crudo, smoked catfish croquette, sweetbread in a lettuce wrap, hot chicken (fried) dish, flounder dish, quail stuffed with sausage, and a delicious panna cotta for dessert. They brought us some dessert wine at the end of the night which was a nice touch.
Some of the aforementioned dishes were mid-course snacks.

I can't argue with that. I have not had anything other than a stellar meal at Coquette and have dined there at least a dozen times over the last 4-5 years.
Consistent excellence for a protracted period is what puts it on the top for me.

Sounds great - what was the price?

I didn't see the itemized bill, but 5 ppl split 1 bottle of wine and coffee. They waived the corkage on the two bottles we brought. All considered it was $100/head. Consider the quanity & quality of food and drink they brought it was a complete steal.

Man. I sent my parents to coquette Thursday night based on fdb love. They had a terrible experience with tasting menu. Must have been a bad night there.
I'd still like to try it.

We had brunch there, pretty good. They do a 3 course thing.
