Way back when (During Grad School and the first few years after entering job market as a lowly drug plant chemist) we did social stuff with other (poor) young married people. Now days our "bring a dish" social gatherings tend to look like "Epicureans on Parade" photoshoots for Food and Wine Magazine.
I kin'da miss the old days. Here is a very old and very poor (think cheap)football party treat. I think we are staying home for the superbowl and I may fix this for the dog and me. Drunk Weenies:
1 or 2 packages of Hotdog franks. Buy all meat, but not the big (jumbo) ones. Stick to the slim sized dogs we all had as little kids.
1 beer - your brand, but we never spent much money on the beer back in those days.
Half a bottle (makes the finished product hot!) to a full bottle (takes it to ouch!) of your favorite Tobasco style sauce. (I like LA Gold). I guess you could go with Thai Sriracha pepper sauce if you have a desire to die a painful death.
In those days I knew all about Thai Pepper Sauce, but I had no knowledge of the 16 million Scoville index (measured by HPLC) pure capsaicin in the warehouse where I work. A little of that stuff goes a long way but you must have a license to purchase or handle it.
Cut franks into 3/4 inch pieces. Put in a small boiler. Pour beer over the dog pieces. Pour hot sauce over the beer pieces. Stir and bring to a low boil. Put the lid on the boiler and cook until the liquid is pretty much gone.
DO NOT BURN THE DOGS.
Dump in a bowl and artfully place a box of toothpicks along side bowl.
Be careful with Tabasco or Thai Sriracha sauce addition as not everyone may share your love of hot weenie heat.
