I'm in the market for one of these things and looking for opinions from people with personal experience. I've done all the research and narrowed it down to the Primo Oval XL400 and the Big Green Egg XXL. I'm leaning toward the Primo grill. Anyone have any experience? The technology and design seem far superior in the Primo, but for some reason the Big Green Egg is still selling for $3500. The Primo is around $1400

Both brands are great. I prefer the oval shape for its versatility. You can't go wrong with either, but since all else is equal, go with the primo.

The Primo takes up much less space, while providing plenty of cooking area...

Yeah thanks guys. The Primo looks like a can't miss. I'm going to just buy the grill and build a platform/table for it.

I have the oval Primo and like the shape for longer meats and the ability to divide it between hot and "cold" sides.

I've seen both in action, and both are excellent. It's personal preference. I liked the black finish Primo offered, so that factored in my decision as well.

Have you checked out the new Weber Summit Charcoal Grill? A lot of reviews are coming in that is basically a kamado that is easier to move and won't be subjective to any cracking while also easier to bring temps down if you over shoot.

I love my Summit but I think it is much easier to control temps on a good ceramic.

Isn't this just pretty much a red version of the green Egg, at a lower price? I've heard the absolute cream of the crop is Komodo Kamado, but no one is spending 8K on a grill for their backyard.

I believe the BGE XL is more comparable size and price wise to the Primo Oval400, right? The XXL is absolutely massive.

Depending on your needs, you can get a Classic Joe for $1k and a Big Joe for 1500. They come with more accessories, racks and deflector plates which you have to buy separately with BGE and Primo.

The Primo is better in almost every way IMO, except the one where you say you have a BGE.

But seriously it's a great investment for the outdoor grilling enthusiast. You don't have any expensive hobbies?

If you include family, then yeah.
