Carrabbas has reduced portion sizes and is cutting other corners

Ate at Carrabbas tonight for the first time in probably a little over a year. Noticed several things since my last visit:

- Plates noticeably smaller, amount of food on plate less
- Glasses smaller (not as tall)
- Larger sauce bowl on smaller calamari plate to take up more room and lessen amount of calamari (subtle trick)
- Bread is only brought on request
- House salad is iceburg with some carrots and 3 olives
- Prices higher

I almost never eat chains with Carrabbas being one of the few exceptions. Disappointed to see the restaurant cutting corners. I really can't enjoy my food if I feel like I am being played.

Those of you that have never been won't notice any of this obviously, but the restaurant gave people more in the past for the same or lower cost.

All of these chains are doing the same thing. They need to have food priced at a certain point to attract customers. All the while maintaining their margins. Let the sheep graze and have crappy food.

I hate small portions. I won't eat at a place again if they do that

Portion sizes are so ridiculous in this country.

They are all about a perceived value. Give me well done food and not feeling bloated when I leave.

We're thru the looking glass here, people. I wonder if other chain restaurants are using similar business practices.

Where are you leaving hungry from? I really don't think this has ever happened to me from a restaurant where I enjoyed what I ate. Quality restaurants are about appropriate portion sizes.

They brought the Johnny Rocco salad back but the overall size is smaller, the shrimp & scallops are smaller, some ingredients are missing, and the preparation has been cheapened.

I am sure most of them are doing the same thing. When I notice it so blatantly at a place I have a hard time ever returning.

It is hard to not feel grouchy when you see all the cynical marketing decisions laid out on the table in front of you.

Would you feel better if they simply charged you more?

Must be a bitch now that Sicily's has closed.

I had Carrabbas about six months ago and enjoyed the pasta pescatore.

They are charging more for less now.

Even more for the same amount and higher quailty ingredients I would be fine with.

I'm honestly not surprised. And I'm not being a snob. Carrabbas is just another chain when you get right down to it.

If you go to a local joint at the same price point, you'll probably get better service and food.

Chains just kinda diminish that aspect of it all.

Real talk, I have to do that type of meal, Maggiano's >>>> Carrabbas. That being said, Maggiano's is not as commonplace. You do what you gotta do given your scenery.
