Can You ID This Piece of Flatware?

Because of the slot, my guess is that it is used to slice off the top of a soft-boiled egg.

I got bored and tried to google it. Came up with nothing. The company that made it was around in the late 1800s in Birmingham England.

Well, since my OP, I found this on eBay. Seems to confirm my suspicions, but no pictures unfortunately. I forgot to mention the source said it was Potosi silver.

I think he's right that it's for boiled eggs. I didn't see the exact one, Google: vintage egg topper. Google image.
