I am not really into cooking like most of you. I am also not married and live alone so I eat out almost every meal and its getting old, I just want to come home and have a meal ready. I have a crock pot and want to start using it since it is so easy and makes a bunch of meals. If you guys can share you best recipes with my I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Red beans is an easy one. Beans, water, sausage, seasonings. Set temp and timer- done.

Italian Beef. Brown a roast really well. Deglaze with stock and put roast in crock pot, cover about half way with stock, add some oregano, basil, garlic , bell pepper, onion and a jar of pepperoncini peppers. Makes a great Italian sub.

Put a beef roast in the crock pot on low before going to bed (even if it's frozen). Add onion, cut up potatoes, and carrots. It will be ready at noon the next day. Very simple and tasty.

Thanks everyone. Some more specific recipes would be appreciated, with the amounts I would need of each ingredient. I am semi-retarded when it comes to cooking. TIA!

Here's an easy one. Take a small to medium sized pork butt and rub it down thoroughly with your favorite powdered taco seasoning mix. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate overnight. In the morning put it in the crock pot on low with one 12 oz bottle of Shiner Bock or Dos Eqis dark lager. Cook 6-8 hours or till meat can be pulled apart with a fork. Serve on warm taco shells or tortillas and top with fresh cilantro and queso fresco (cheese).

Put one packett of Lipton mix on a pork or beef roast before you leave for work in the AM and it will be ready when you get home. Even has a little gravey with it.

Plus, if you still have the paperwork that came with your crock pot, it should have some recipes in there. They're pretty good.

Throw three frozen chicken breasts in a crock pot. Add one can of cream of celery, one can cream of chicken, two cans of chicken broth, and one half can of peas and carrots. Pour a good helping of pepper, onion and garlic powder and leave it on low for like 6 or 8 hours. About an hour before you are ready to eat, break up the chickn into strips - should be easy and tender by then - open a can of premade biscuits, pinch off the balls of dough and thrown it in. Make sure they cook for at least an hour and are all the way cooked.

Bingo, chicken and dumplings.

One of our favorites is super easy

Throw a few frozen chicken breasts in the crock pot with a jar of rotel, a cup of water and a packet of taco seasoning

8 hours on low and then it will shred with a fork and you have easy shredded chicken for nachos, tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, etc

Easiest one I know:

Chicken thighs or breasts, a packet of taco seasoning, and 1 jar of salsa.
Low for ~6-8hrs.

Makes the best shredded chicken for tacos, nachos, etc.

I add cream cheese and enchilada sauce to mine to make it almost like a warm, mexican chicken salad. It's delicious on chips or rolled up in tortillas.

Taco Soup:
Brown a pound ground beef or turkey, an onion, and a bell pepper.
Can of Black beans
Can of Pinto beans
Can of kidney beans
Two cans of stewed tomatoes
Packet of taco seasoning
Packet of ranch dressing mix seasoning

Easy, delicious, and healthy. You'll have leftovers for days.
