We are looking at doing some boiled snow crab legs for the Super Bowl. Can you just boil them in crawfish boil like doing a crawfish? Any other tips?

They steamed then frozen at the dock right when they get off the boat so you need not cook them very long...... bring them to a boil, cut your fire off then let them soak5 to 10 minutes

Steam them instead of boiling them.

spend a few more dollars and get the king crab legs, then defrost completely, wrap each leg individually in a wet paper towel, then with plastic wrap and put in microwave for one minute...perfect, this came from alton brown

We cant get king crab legs. How long do they need to boil before reducing the heat?

They're already cooked so they don't need to cook in the boil. They just need to be heated, really. You don't want to overcook them. I'd probably season the water, let it simmer for a bit. Throw in the crabs, turn off the heat immediately and let them soak if I wanted to try and flavor the already cooked meat.

I don't cook snow crab legs, but cook king crab often in a steamer.

dont really need to boil, they are already cooked, you are just heating them up, so get your water boiling put legs in for 2-4 minutes and take out - even if the water has not returned to a boil...remember you are not cooking live crawfish or raw shrimp, they can go from awesome to awful in a matter of seconds, I would recommend avoiding the crab boil seasoning and just dip in drawn butter

And myself. I'd just warm them in the steamer and use drawn butter and lemon. That sort of crab is usually pretty salty already.

They key word is "warm", as posters have mentioned because they're ready to eat except for the temperature you want to eat them at.

I always have crab legs in the freezer and ghee in the fridge. It's easier to make than a TV dinner.

I'm not sure that I'd want to tamper with the gorgeous taste of snow or king crab by introducing heavy seasoning, also risking overcooking.

If you over cook them, the shells will be so pliable that you will have a very frustrating time peeling them.

I go with about 5 lbs a couple or family with young kids. Do a superbowl boil for 20 adults, 50lbs of crabs. I season half of what I do for crawfish, maybe a little more sometimes, and they come out great. You can let soak a while, but dont boil em long. Quite a treat.
