a friend recommended it... I've heard of boiling ribs... but these seem meaty and tender to me already...

excuse my ignorance on the subject though... that's why I asked...

no need to ever boil any kind of meat before you throw it on the cooker. set your temp for 225 and let 'em go for 5 hours.

make sure to coat 'em good with a good dry rub and spray with a lil apple juice/apple cider vinegar (50/50) about once an hour. sauce during the last hour of cooking

I've heard of this for brisket though I've never tried it. Supposedly helps the tenderness. May try it one day for the hell of it - I have major problems getting my brisket tender enough. Never been an issue with ribs.

boiling a brisket isnt going to make it tender. it's going to make it gross.

i dont understand why so many people on here think boiling meat before throwing it on a smoker is the right thing to do...

This. Beef and water do not mix. Every now and then I defrost a steak in water if I am in a hurry while in a freezer bag. If there is a hole in the bag the steak turns gray and mushy.

Only if you want subpar ribs and a thin pork stock.

Country Style Pork Ribs are really just Boston Butt/Shoulder cut into slices so that a little of the bone is still in them. No need to boil any meat you're going to smoke. Good dry rub, and smoke until internal temp is about 200. Easy to do, hard to frick up.

ok, never boil meat unless you are making corned beef.

boiling meat for corned beef and boiling it before you smoke it cause you think it makes it tender are 2 totally different things...
