I had some Blue Bell ice cream at my mom's house about three weeks ago and am 90% sure I had contaminated ice cream. Had the fever, aches, nausea, diarrhea, stiffness. I'm young and healthy so it passed after a few days. That first 24 hours was rough, though.

The neighbor kid ended up in the ER last week with stomach cramps, diarrhea. The mom saw the ice cream was on the recall list. Too bad because I've always liked Blue Bell.

Not just the loss of sales, but what's their liability?

They have insurance for this sort of thing.

Sad as it may be, I did. Heard it from people that work at Nestle around Easter time.

Kind of like knowing the chef. Ooooh! Unless the chef is Emeril, Ramsay or the like.

Anyway, BB's problem may be that they expanded in a big way, so their structure may be their undoing.

You could be right, but could be wrong. We don't know their debt structure or how they capitalized their recent expansions. I would tend to agree with you if they were the single facility company from a few years ago. It is possible that debt servicing and obligations might not be covered by cash flow.

Damn. My pregnant wife ate a little cup at a kid's BD party this weekend. I'll burn them down if she gets the Listeria.

Ehhh I don't know a whole lot about insurance for stuff like this, but I'd imagine they have some sort of coverage for things like this?

The biggest hit will probably be from the people who swear off Blue Bell forever now and say that they got sick from the listeria scare of 2015, 5 years later.

As for me, I will continue eating Blue Bell cause it is my weakness. Put some pecan pralines and cream blue bell by me and I can't resist no matter how sick I may get from it.

I imagine they do. The question will be the extent of coverage for covering their obligations.
