ok quick review
the place is really nice, well renovated and comfortable
the service was excellent, greeted at the door by the owner and the bartenders were friendly and attractive

they only opened on Friday so maybe supply was an issue but half the taps were empty. They did have korova porter so I was good. We drank a lot of beer

The food was...not great.
we had the artichoke, grilled corn, chicken livers, OMG burger and truffle fries. Nothing was seasoned, at all, it was just there. half a bland artichoke, flabby livers, Sysco fries and a tasteless burger. The corn was OK

So... Great place to drink but unless the menu improves eat elsewhere. I spent 100 bucks with tip, could have done a whole lot better

will try iron horse next time

How does it compare to your moms burger?

Or do you not like your moms?

I'm easy to please too
we were in excited to try it and like I said the place is really nice and the people are friendly. I'm interested to hear what other people think

everything we ate was completely lacking seasoning of any kind and not really that well executed

Can you update on iron horse when you try it? Heard they were having a rough time. Will be in Hammond for opening weekend of baseball season and want to know if it's worth the time checking it out.

My wife went to iron horse for lunch last wed and said they struggled but were friendly and well-intentioned for their 2nd day of service. Looks like a good concept for that corner to me

I have been waiting patiently for this place to open. I've been twice so far and my honest opinion is disappointment. It looks awesome with the stained concrete floors, brick walls and tin ceiling but it is miserable for acoustics. You can't go there and talk. It is a loud roar with sound bouncing everywhere. The food is average. It takes 30 plus minutes to get a burger and it is no where close to your moms bar and grill. I think this is a classic case of someone watching too much Bar Rescue on TV and now trying to run a bar. I guess the three owners are wanting more of a bar but are forced to have food to obtain a liquor license. It shows. I also think they picked a name too similar to red white and brew which is an established higher end bar in Hammond. All these mistakes plus the location of many many failed businesses in that location makes for an almost impossible chance it will succeed. I really hope they can improve. We shall see. I won't be back for food with other better places in the area.

Really I thought the omg burger was the greatest with the two different types of the sauté onions on it with the melted provolone cheese that did wonders to my mouth and the fries was OMG outstanding and strait out the fryer with the wonderful seasons it had on it what was it called again....and come on now the chicken livers which was my first time trying ever tasted just like chicken tenders crunchy and OMG great.... What was you problem with them.....and the grilled corn and the artichokes my kids loved them and they really don't care for healthy food so if you ask me I think blacken brew is winning in all areas. I'm sorry it wasn't your best experience but like you said you kinda drunk a lot. So try to eat first before getting drunk so you can actually taste the food.

Wow u shouldn't sit at the bar and try to talk anyways. There are tables and a booths towards the back to sit comfortably to have personal conversations with each other. I had no problems myself. During the day for lunch time is a different scene from night time after 8pm just putting that out there and my food came in a timely manner they are doing a great job taking in the fact that the just open and that when they cooking ur food they probably got ten other family orders in before you. So in my OPINION!!!!! This place is the best place to be. It's two different worlds in one (daytime verse nighttime) so if you get a chance Everyone reading this negatively on here should come see what's really going on in there!!!!
