It was pricey but after dealing with cheap Ninja blenders I decided to go with the so-called industry leader. My Ninja left a lot of pulp no matter how long I blended. It didn't seem to blend as much as it just chopped everything up at a high speed. The Vitamix? I'm absolutely blown away by how consistent my smoothie is. Not a bit of pulp.

Now I can't wait to dig into the inch-thick recipe book

P.S. I got their "certified-refurbished" which comes with a 5-year warranty. It's a helluva deal, I think.

Deal is kinda relative I guess but I think I'm going to bite the bullet at some point. Keep waiting on our kitchen aid to crap out but that thing has more lives than a cat

I've ground allspice in mine. You can put granular sugar in there and make powdered sugar also. That thing is bad arse.

I have a ninja. When it breaks I'm getting a vitamix. I do tons of veggie smoothies for breakfast. Rich Roll said he already put an avacado pit in his vitamix and drank it. Pretty impressive to chop that up into a smoothie consistency.

I'm in the same boat as many of you that are waiting out a blender. I can't rationalize paying that kind of $ for a smoothie maker.

I'm praying one of my family members ends up upgrading and I can take a second hand unit. If I start making "green" smoothies, that might change my mind.

I have a juicer and a vitamix.

Guess which one has dust on it? Just kidding about the dust, but a juicer is a pain in the arse! More pulp and mess than juice.

Vitamix is the clear winner! It is used everyday for protein shakes, green machine drinks, but I haven't made soups or nut butters yet.

I've got a blendtec (commercial unit) and it's shocking the leap from a regular blender to a vitamix or blendtec. Ice to snow, not ice to crushed ice for example

Found this comparison online
LINK

You may be a BLENDTEC Blender Babe if:

You want a slightly more economical All-In-One Blender
You prefer 100% automation plus pre-programmed cycles
You want your blender on the counter, under the kitchen cabinet
(Vitamix now offers a shorter jar, see Compact Vitamix)
You travel and would like to bring your blender
You prefer computer controlled – digital display blenders
You need a large “3qt”, 90 oz. WildSide Jar
You want to be able to put your jar in the dishwasher
You want less expensive jars when they need replacing or additional.

You may be a VITAMIX Blender Babe if:

You prefer to manually control all aspects of blending
(New Professional 750 series has most used automated controls)
You need the greater RPM range for very specific recipes
You like a heavier blender
You blend a lot of small volumes and thick purees
(Blendtec offers TWISTER jar with built in scrapers)
You believe the manual vs. automatic control is more reliable.

We bit the bullet & got a new Vitamix after talking about it for months. About a month later I fished a mint 70's Vitamix out of a condo dumpster.

For those of you on the fence about getting a Vitamix, climb on over and get one.

They are absolutely amazing. We make smoothies, "juice", soups, pestos, butters, sauces, drinks, etc. The possibilities really are endless.

It gets daily use and every time I'm like, damn this thing is impressive.

As someone mentioned earlier, we also first bought a juicer. It's now buried in a closet.

Mine is incredible, worth every penny of the $365 I paid for it. If anyone is thinking about it don't hesitate to make the purchase you won't regret it.

Seconded. The longer you wait, the more pissed you'll be that you didn't get one sooner.

I don't really have a strong feeling one way or the other. I got my Blendtec because it was a deal I couldn't pass up. I think their build qualities and results are similar. If it matters, Blendtec did get a $24M settlement against Vitamix for stealing their patented jar design. But again, I think the final product is going to be nearly identical.
