Birmingham Crawfish Festival? That is beyond an oxymoron.

This is true, but living in Tuscaloosa I dont get crawfish very often so I'm hoping they are decent.

Not meaning this in a bad way, but perhaps there will be some displaced Katrina folks (that chose to stay here) offering up some good food. I see a good many Lsu folks still around.

If I lived in Birmingham I'd be getting the hell out for the weekend

Haha, well if the crawfish are bad, Katy Perry, All American Rejects, and Snoop Dog will be there and its only $20. Crawish plates are $10

Try Jazz Fest, leave all else to the amateurs.

Glassman...you're just being an arse and a New Orleans snob.

The Birmingham Crawfish festival put on by Schaeffer Eye Center is a good time and the crawfish are pretty good. I used to live in Birmingham for 6 years and enjoyed the experience. No, the food does not compare to what's at Jazz Fest but it's not trying to compete. And I usually like the lineup at Crawfish Festival more than Jazz Fest...though I am sad I am missing Bon Jovi tomorrow.

Swing by the US Smokeless truck, get some samples and perhaps a free t-shirt/hat/coozie for your troubles.

The Birmingham Festival sounds like it blows the Houston crawfish festival out of the water. The one held in Spring, TX sucks big time.

You should save yourself some trouble, and just stop in at Jubilee Joe's in Hoover next time on your way over the the 'ham. Has all you can eat on Sundays from 1-5, and they are pretty much the best restaurant cooked bugs I've found in this area, although they do "sprinkle" with seasoning after cooking... but they cook in well seasoned water, so they don't "need" it. ( I don't think any crawfish "need" the after cooked sprinkled seasoning, but they all still do that around here.. )
