Have any of you that have an egg ever experience it getting wet inside during a rain, even with the air flow cap closed?

are you just closing the cast iron daisy wheel or do you put it inside when your done and put the green cap on top?

just the cast iron. and it stays outside. i think im going to buy a canvas cover for it and see how it does.

man that cast iron daisy wheel must be covered in rust... even with a cover moisture will get in. you need the green top cap.

I store mine at the edge of a covered patio--it gets some blowing rain, but not a direct downpour. I wouldn't leave it out uncovered; the hinges and bolts will eventually decay (might take years, but the bands may loosen and you don't want your dome falling on the ground). Plastic covers are cheap and easy to use. Just wait 'til the egg cools before you pop it on.

My Kamado sits outside, but I have a cover


Only problem is if I grill after work, it takes well into the night to cool off enough to cover it, and by morning time, I have a layer of dew on it so I don't end up covering it until the next adternoon
