All you who have only had Johnny's in BR need to keep quiet about it, that's like saying redheads are disgusting when the only one you've ever seen is Kathy Griffin

Well said.

Never had Johnny's pizza. Is it that good?

Nope. It's just that guy's first time away from the fast food pizza.

Best pizza in LA is Mama Della's on Jefferson in BR.

I'm a fan. Second is just down the road at Whole Foods, as sad as that is to say.

And i like a Sweep the Kitchen from Johnny's. But comparing the pizza at Mama Della and the Johnny's pizza is almost apples/oranges.

Pizzicare on Tulane Ave in NOLA. I've had em all in NOLA and it's the best, to me.

I've never heard of this one. Is it new? I assume you think it's good if you're listing it as the best.

I had an awesome pizza from some little hole in the wall place in New Orleans.

It was from some temporary building across from the Ramada on Bourbon.

I don't remember seeing a sign. You just walked up to a slide up window and told them what you wanted.

I know the place you are talking about and had many a slices from there. it was damn good. unfortunately they closed it down a couple of years ago and made that area a courtyard for the club next door. sucked cause I loved that place.

Same here!

I figured it closed. I looked for it the next time I was back in New Orleans but it wasn't there. Those slices were soooooo good.

Several come to mind for me. Hard to choose just one so I will break them down into categories:

Local LA dives:
Rocky's on Magazine in NOLA (no longer there)
Fleur de Lis in BRLA

Italian Restaurant Pizza:
Venezia
Isabella's

National Chains:
BJ's Brewhouse
Mellow Mushroom

Opened in September 2011. It's in that new "strip mall" on Tulane. I'm guessing they wanted to get the jump on business before the new hospital opens, because it's in a pretty weird location.

Anyway, the Crescent Pie and Sausage guys opened it. They serve NY style pies that kind of remind me of Pizza D.

That pizza looks damn good. Looks like stuff I got in Philly and NYC.

This place is in NOLA, you said?

Yep, it's in Mid-City NOLA. Most would consider it the ghetto. But it's in a brand new strip mall and is down the street from the multibillion dollar VA Hospital that is currently being built.

Pizzicare Pizzeria
3001 Tulane Ave
504-301-4823

And no, I don't work there It's just in an obscure location and I want people who like pie to know about it

Much appreciated, my friend! I'm going to try to get around to checking that place out the next time I'm over there.

That pizza looks mighty fine!

I dragged my gf there recently in a semi-lucid state of inebriation. Trust me, it is still as good

Pizzicare (pronounced pizza-car-ay) is pretty damn good. I hope they succeed, I admire them opening up in that sketchy area.
