What is it? I want something as close to Louisiana as I can get.

Cook it yourself if your expecting to find good gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee here in Houston.
If you want pretty good seafood, go to Goode Company Seafood.

That's what I thought.

Not a Ragin Cajun. The po boys are served on a damn hoagie roll. I demand french bread.

I went to Mardi Gras on Durham last week. Everybody told me how good it was but it had the suck. Po-boy wasn't very good, fries were ok, but the onion rings were good. I will take the po-boy at Sabine River over that.

Ragin Cajun also puts ketchup on their poboys.
Goode Company seafood makes a pretty good poboy actually. If you're a poboy snob(find something else to be a snob about for Christ's sake) you may scoff at it, but it's one of the better ones I've found around town.

Ragin Cajun is kind of expensive.

Anybody like Orleans in Katy or Mamas, and The Cajun in Cypress?
Posted on 6/13/10 at 7:08 pm to samm980
if you are in Katy hit up Captain Tom's ...we just call it the boat....
Its not true Cajun food but those Mexicans at the boat can fry some seafood...there gumbo is pretty good as well
Also just about the best oysters you will find in the city...

I know Captain Tom's, I go to the one on 1960.

the only good thing at mardi gras grill is their crab dip appetizer.

Does anybody remember Gator's? It used to be by a Two Peso's near Kirby Drive. Really cool cajun restuarant, closed down many years ago though.

I second the BB's Cafe. Oyster's are no longer on the menu there. I was told due to oil spill.
I know Galveston Bay is still producing some oysters, but don't know if BB has changed to a local supplier yet.
Prices have doubled this month at the Kemah Fish Markets for oysters- around $30 for a 100 count sack. Pre-BP they were about $16-$18 per 100 count.
Shrimp have gone up about $1 per pound that I noticed this weekend.
They have the bread that you want for a po-boy as well.

Have been twice now to Crabby Daddy's in Spring/Woodlands area. And both times the food has been really good...and I'm hard to please.

Try Abe's Cajun Market in Clear Lake (Exit Clear Lake City Blvd off 45 South). Also, Floyd's is very good. We go to one in Pearland, but I think there is at least one other location in Houston. Those are the two that we like.

Zachery's in Kingwood. Abita, poboys, gumbo.
Owner is from Louisiana and they are big on LSU and the Saints. Pretty nice place.

I second Abe's and Zydeco
walking into zydeco is like walking into your grandmothers house when she's cooking. took me back home immediately
I'm not a huge fan of Rajun Cajun. It's alright, but nothing great.
Treebeards can suck a fat one for putting cheese on their red beans and rice.
