Looking to try out some scotch whats a good starter scotch for me?

The first scotch I tried was johnny walker and I enjoyed it. Since then I've tried others but I was happy with starting on that. Black Label

Expensive shite if I recall.
Is it the blue label that is $150 a bottle?

Don't get blue label man. That's pretty expensive.

Famous grouse or Dewars. Good and relatively cheap.

Macallan 12 year...Worked at a liqour store that was the third largest scotch dealer in the US. Trust me on this one. Pour a small glass with a few drops of water and take really small sips you'll get the hang of it.
Poster above who put Glenlevit also has the right idea thats a good starter.

I'm liking Glenfiddich 12 year. Nice and smooth. I'm a big fan of the maccallan 12 as well though.

The important point is that you drink a single malt. Those mentioned above, for the most part, fit this requirement. Most popular American scotches traditionally have been blends, but drinkers have become more sophisticated.

If you have been drinking bourbon or whiskey, Johnny Walker Black is a really good first crossover (blended scotch). The single malt scotches like Glenlivit or Glenfiddich take a little more getting used to, IMO
ETA-I have gotten to that point, and have recently enjoyed Macallan 18 yo.

Dewars white label is my go to cheap scotch.

Macallan 12 over ice with a splash of water to start. gradually lessen the amount of water until you can just let the ice melt.
Macallan 12 is a little sweeter tasting and a little more expensiv but well worth it.

Technically, you should never, put good scotch over ice. A splash of water, opens up the body of the scotch and allows you to taste all the different flavors. Ice has the exact opposite effect and makes it more difficult.
That being said, the most important thing is to enjoy the scotch. So if that's really the way you like it,

what part of "beginner's scotch" did you assfricks not grasp?
it's his first pull of scotch
dude, go get some Dewar's, pour it over ice, and pour some water in it
go from there - skip all the other Mac's and the like for now - you'll find your way

Thanks fellas, I like to branch out my drinking from time to time. I recently tried some absinthe imported from Europe and now I want something that does not take as long to get here and is enjoyable.
