I'm gonna be in town Wednesday for work, and I'm going to be near the Calandro's on Government. Is the one on Perkins a lot better or is the one on Government just as good for beer? Never been to the one on Government, and I would rather just hit that one since it's closer. Also, anything new out? I haven't bought beer in BR in a few months.

Sweetwater is a new one. Should be out this week. Government is just as good as Perkins.

No, not even close when it comes to beer selection.

How about the Whole Foods on Corporate? I usually just go to the Perkins Calandro's, so I've never beer shopped at these other stores

Whole Foods is similar to the Calandro's on Government... maybe even a little less selection.

The Beverage Store on Florida or Cuban on Perkins are going to be your best bets unless you drive out to the Perkins/Seigen Calandro's.

agree.

Government Calandros has improved, but I think it is still behind Beverage Store and Cuban Liquor in the area.

I think once Government street Calandros wises up and put their entire aisle euro lagers on sale to get rid of them, and replace with craft beer, they could shoot up to a solid #2 behind Siegen Calandros.

Although, Bev Store is starting making your own 6 packs, which will bump them up.

They have a decent selection, but Calandro's on Perkins is way better. The one on government is pretty sad, IMO. Looks like their inventory is much older, and is picked through. Not too mention it's just clutter for the sake of clutter. Best places for beer

1. Calandro's Perkins
2. Cuban Liquor
3. The Beverage Store
4. Whole Foods
5. Matherne's on Perkins

It is light years better than 6 months ago, once they made staff changes. They are still trying to sell 4 year old euro lagers for full price, which is holding them back on shelf space

I get all my alcohol from either Whole Foods or Martin's Wine Cellar.

Don't drink a lot of beer, so I can't offer any advice regarding the selection at Calandro's on Government (especially since I shop at the one on Perkins too).

This will be closest to me, so looks like I'll probably hit that. Thanks for the help.

Any new beers in the area I should know about?

There is some new Clown Shoes stuff, the Stone R&R IPA and Southern Tier Pumking are out, if they still have any.

Was my favorite brewery, now I'm liking Green Flash and Karbach better.

No, Karbach is only in Texas at the moment.

New Beers to check out

Southern Tier Pumking
Southern Tier Unearthly
Sweetwater releases today. Their 420 pale ale is pretty good.
Stone 17th anniversary releases today, i believe
Stone R&R if they have it
Laughing Dog Devil Dog double IPA is really good

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that buy the stuff but it's got to be a dwindling market.

I actually enjoy a good Golden Pheasant or fresh pilsner urquell every once in a while too but damn they take up some space when I'm doing my everyday beer shopping.
