Me and wife are heading to Napa in a couple of weeks. Friday and Sunday are devoted to wine. She is letting me have Saturday to get my beer fix. From what I've gathered, there's not a major craft beer scene in Napa, but Billco's and Downtown Joe's seem to be the local places to go. Can anyone confirm this? Any other places that are worth checking out?

Planning to visit Russian River and/or Lagunitas as well, since they are so close. Would probably hire a driver. Is it feasible idea to try and visit both of these in one day? I'm assuming they would be pretty busy on a Saturday.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bear Republic is in Healdsburg/Sonoma too.

Russian River is so good.

Yes all 3 mentioned can easily be done in a day.

RR and Lagunitas are both easily done in a day. Talk her into Sunday at the breweries instead (all day Happy Hour at RR). Do flights at both, and you'll definitely want a driver.

Little beer shop in Rhonert Park in bewtween the two to buy bottles, or the Whole Foods in Petaluma (usually some good taps too).

I might take the Sunday HH advice as some wineries actually close down on Sundays.

I'm headed to Napa tomorrow.

Went to Russian River, Lagunitas and Bear Republic in October, but not in one day. It is possible to do all three in one day. In order of preference would be Russian River, Lagunitas and Bear Republic.

The day I went, Russian River was serving the following on their sampler:

Pliny the Elder
Blind Pig
Row 2 Hill 56
Dribble Belt
OVL Stout
Consecration
Perdition
Erudition
Damnation
Benediction
Defenestration
Sanctification
Temptation
Supplication

Of those, I preferred the sour beers.

I have done RR and Lagunitas in the same day, it is very easy. I would plan on getting to RR around lunch time and hanging there for a few hours and around 2-3 head to Lagunitas.

Let us know how Downtown Joe's is. I've always wanted to try their beer.

Yes it is. I'm tired of having my Pliny v-card.

Appreciate all the help. Didn't realize Bear Republic was that close as well. Might flip a coin to decide between it and Lagunitas.

If she hasn't already booked a wine tour for Sunday, I will see if she's up for swapping days. Can't beat a good HH, especially when I plan on trying quite a few brews at RR.

There's a really cool draft beer bar in downtown Napa, have a bunch of dart boards and pool tables and a big patio. Should check that out one afternoon

Last summer I had coffee in Calistoga, cut thru Anderson Valley to Healdsburg and had snacks at Bear Republic; went to the Armstrong Forest to see the redwoods, headed south to Santa Rosa and dropped into Russian River for more beers and snacks, then finished at Lagunitas Brewpub where i had a couple beers and filled my growler. Pretty nice day.

Billco's is a pretty cool spot, better than downtown Joe's, especially if you like to shoot pool.

Sounds like the Billco's place I have been reading about.

Mung, did you hire a driver? That would be an epic day to pull off. I like it.

Nah, I should have. The GF went light and took over after Santa Rosa.

While in Napa, you really have to hit Oxbow Public Market. Oxbow

So many great restaurants(Kitchen Door, Ca Momi, C Casa, Hog Island) in Oxbow, great beer and wine selection, and finish it off with some ice cream. Hard to go wrong. I also like some BBQ at Bounty Hunter downtown.

That's it Bilco, yeah its a really cool beer bar, met a random guy in there while we were shooting darts that is a regular, use to be the head beer maker at serria Nevada, now does some high end home brews they tap at the bar there. If there's a guy with his dog in the bar that's him.

As someone who lives in the area and doesn't get out much, I like to avoid Downtown Joe's. I might be a snob though
