Beef ribs in Lafayette? Updated - pics

Is there a butcher shop in the area where I can get beef ribs to smoke? I'm not talking about the trimmed bones they sell at Albertson's as beef ribs, but a Flintstones style hunk of beef on a handle!
ETA: I guess I'm asking about whole shortribs like Mueller's BBQ in Austin?

I'm sure there are but you're gonna pay for them... Processors are leaving as much of that meat on the ribeye as possible... For about $6/lb premium, you would too.

Champagnes in the Oil Center has a rib with a ribeye on the end, they are huge

Just go to the meat counter and ask for uncut or whole short ribs. I get them in the Houston area at HEB. I smoked some a few weeks ago, this is half of one

Yes, you're looking for short ribs not cut cross bone. Beef back ribs don't have enough meat.
I smoked several of these last weekend. You have to go and talk to a local butcher. Expect to pay though.
Yeah, the other poster is talking about a tomahawk ribeye. Also great eating.
Good luck searching. I don't know Lafayette. It took me several butcher shops to find what I wanted. Even then, I had to speak directly with the butcher to have them cut special.

Thanks, called a couple of places and they needed an 80lb minimum to place the order.

Man that looks good. I might try my hand at smoking some short ribs this weekend.

Have you called or asked in Albertson's to see if they sell whole short ribs?

Thanks, will try tomorrow, along with the Albertsons suggestion.

If the suggested places don't have it maybe try took's, earl's, or chop's. I got some really good filets at chop's last weekend.

The Albertsons suggestion worked out. I picked up a 4 1/2 lb 4 bone slab of short ribs and smoked it today. Salt only, 5 hours in the Primos on oak, 2 hours in foil, and 30 minutes direct to crisp up the bark. It's perfectly melt in your mouth smoked deliciousness and I would highly recommend the cut.
Next time, I'll try without the foil to give a little more bite.

Besides a poached egg, I think my favorite sous vide item is short ribs.
