BR doesn't really have good BBQ. And before city pork fans start throwing stuff at me, its not really BBQ. Its delicious, but I wouldn't consider it BBQ.

Smokin Aces is meh at best.

I am excited for this new BRQ restaurant, though.
TJ Ribs is awful
VooDoo isn't good either

Smoking Aces
Pimanyoli's

or

Find out where Barbosa's BBQ will be. They don't have a brick and mortar, just pop-up service.

Whole Foods and I am not joking.

Also in consideration:

Pimanyolis
TJ Ribs (I know, I know)
Big Jake's (St. Gabriel)

Don't waste your time or money at VooDoo BBQ, Sonny's or Jay's.

This. Also the Rouses on Airline is good too. I usually get a brisket and boudin combo.

They catered a work event for us recently. I thought the food was really good, I'm excited for the restaurant to open.

Smokin' Aces has the best sauce, and is probably the best overall (not saying much)
Couyan's has the best brisket, but the worst sauce
Whole Foods has the best ribs
City Pork has the best pulled pork

Good suggestion. I like their baby back ribs. I simply do not like any of their sides. No flavor and they appear to be after thoughts.

Hey now, nothing wrong with a sliced beef poboy from there.

Though you are right, not traditional BBQ.

Barbosa needs to open a brick and mortar place up. They know exactly what they are doing.

Big Jake's in St. Gabriel. They lose points because the sides seem to be prepackaged, but the meat itself is pretty good. All of the smoking is done in the same building as the dining room, so be prepared to smell like barbecue smoke when you leave. Also, it's only open 11-2 on weekdays and you run the risk of leaving hungry if you show up at 1:30.

TJ's Wings are legit. In fact, it's one of the few truly exceptional items on the regular menu. The prime rib is incredible, but it's only an occasional special.

BR is sorely lacking when it comes the BBQ; everything is pretty meh. Because of that, my go-to has been Sonny's -- their AYCE dry rub ribs w/ 2 sides and Texas toast is a great deal. I don't think they've reopened yet since the flood, though.

If I'm up to making the drive, the best Ive found in the area in Firehouse BBQ in Watson. Also, Bergeron's in Port Allen does a BBQ buffet on Saturdays that is pretty good.
