We will be driving up to Alexandria tonight. Any restaurant recommendations on the route? We will probably take 190 to 49. Open to any suggestions or any type of food. Thanks in advance.

Agree with Billy's or Kartchners.

Also think about that BBQ place at the Alexandria exit attached to the shell station. Excellent BBQ

They used to have great ham sandwiches too - been many years since I went that way so don't know if that's still available.

I prefer Billy's but both are good. By far Billy's pepper jack boudin ball and wraps. Billy's is a lot spicier to me. I'd say buy both and be the judge. Then on the way back but you some frozen of your favorite so you can have it whenever you want.

Sounds like a good plan. Thanks

Beware that Billy's can get crowded inside; it's just a small convenience store. The line moves pretty fast, though.

I think the lot being cleared next door is for some kind of expansion for them, if so then

I've always wondered about Camille's in Erwinville. Anyone ever eaten there?

Friends of mine from New Orleans recently skipped going on 49 from Opelousas to Alex on their way to TX. They went through Bunkie and stopped at Bernice's. (Not a restaurant, but a drive up, order, eat in your car, I think.) They said they had a great burger and one of the best shrimp poboys. They were shocked.

Billy's is a sketchy gas station and Kartchner's is an actual store with all sorts of food products. Billy's probably has a bit better cracklins and stuff boudin balls, but it's much tougher to get in and out. Kartchner's has a better fresh and frozen selection of take out food, not made to eat on the spot.

Billys @ Opelousas> Billys @ Krotz Springs.
