America's Top All You Can Eat Sushi Spots!

quote:

3 Sushi Masa

Our next all you can eat sushi restaurant has their own take on fresh. Sushi Masa in Baton Rouge Louisiana serves some of the freshest fish you'll find for an AYCE restaurant. All their fish in fresh, never frozen. If you are a fan of Salmon, you'll want to get it here. The owner charters fishing boats from the Northeast coats of the United States and Scotland to bring in fresh wild salmon. Once at the restaurant all the sushi is made fresh to order. The result is good quality AYCE sushi that rivals all the ala carte only options in the area!

The skill that the chiefs have to slice that fish so thin is quite remarkable...

It's all you can order.. not all you can eat. I like the place a good bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if their raw product isn't the quality of other places.

Didn't I order a few things last time?

If I remember correctly you didn't like what you ordered and liked what I ordered for you.

I go for the sashimi alone. There is no other restaurant that I know of that you can order that much fish for 25$ and it comes with a mixed drink. I've never noticed that quality to be poor.

Tennou (West Bank) is still by far the best and freshest sushi I've ever had.

Ichiban owns them I believe, and their fish is legitimately fresh

I find it funny that the promo info touts "fresh never frozen" then brags on the salmon. Salmon is the ONE fish you should absolutely NEVER eat raw and fresh; raw after freezing is fine. Why? Salmon, as fish living in both salt & fresh water, may harbor parasites capable of infecting humans.

It's never a good idea to eat raw/never frozen FRESHwater fish, as the potential for parasitic illness is far greater than w/saltwater species.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with the quality either. If there is a difference, it is something I can't tell as a customer. Obviously, I like some other places better, but that has more to do with what they offer in execution of the sushi moreso than the fish quality itself.

Unsure if Ichiban has any dealing with them though. Friends of mine work there and one is the GM, and I've never heard that, but I also have a shite memory.

Yes, it's always been my understanding that virtually no sushi restaurants in the US are serving exclusively "never frozen" fish and that, by and large, this is a good thing.
