The Uptown bistro known for brie fries, an epic fish sandwich and being one of reader's most beloved brunch and underrated gems Baie Rouge (4128 Magazine) has quietly and quickly rebranded itself into Saveur Cuisine & Cocktails. New Orleans' food goddess Lorin Gaudin spread the word via Twitter yesterday. The restaurant's website does indeed show that chef Dominique Macquet, formerly of Dominique's on Magazine, is now involved with the operation, and with that comes a new menu devoid of brie fries and fish sandwiches (sorry, ladies men).

Saveur also leaves behind the colorful paint scheme for a more refined coat of grey, along with modern art and white tablecloths. Word on the street is that Baie Rouge owner Kimble Donington Smith is still involved.

Eater has reached out to Macquet and the restaurant and is awaiting reply at this time. UPDATE, 1:40 p.m: Macquet tells Eater that he is indeed IN at Saveur, which has been open since Saturday. He is currently still working out the menu, so nothing is yet set in stone.

At least that pink nightmare of a building is gone.

I'm sad to see a casual spot close up right there in favor of a more upscale place. Not sure how I feel about the chef but at least it's not the old one trying to put out higher price plates.

Edit
Here you go eater

Dominique is the most transitional chef in the city in the last 24 months it seems, flaming out quickly everywhere he hangs his hat...I enjoyed brunch at Baie Rouge a few times.

I've never been to Baie Rouge, so I don't know what their menu looked like.. but that menu is a collection of things you can get at restaurants all over the city. Blah.

Not that some of them aren't good items, but I wouldn't look at that menu and have to go there.

So the owner turned over what we are presuming was a successful spot to a chef that fricks everything up?

Well Dominique's last place on Magazine is now awesome so maybe it just needs to go full circle

Strange that he's moved right across the street.

The one time I went to Baie Rouge the app was great and the pork entree I had was one of the worst dishes I've ever had in this city.

Not exactly a spectacular menu. Let's hope it evolves in more interesting ways as he settles in.

The point was that I have no idea if this is a better menu or not. But it is boring. So if BR's was better, I wonder why they chose to change?

It isn't the final menu, so I am sure it will change some. If they can put out good food I will be happy. I don't need an life changing experience over each table.

There is no hype with this restaurant so I will never have a following or be a place to go. Same thing Baie Rouge suffered from.

I was down the street a few months ago talking to someone and a friend picked these up and walked down to meet us. Dear lord they were good. And I never made it back to get them again.
