Never been here but planning on heading there Saturday. What time do you usually need to get there on a Saturday to get a decent spot to sit?

Also, any food and wine recs?

There's really no good time to get there, but you'll probably get a table if you get there at 5ish.

I hate to be this guy but it's just 'bacchanal.'

I haven't been in some time but in the past it was a very small menu.

Menu changes a lot, but most food I've had there has been pretty good. You can start with a cheese tray by picking your cheese from of their fridge, get a bottle of wine, pay for it at the counter, and they will bring the cheese, sliced, to your table on a tray with crackers, etc. Upstairs offer specialty drinks and beers. I enjoy the atmosphere and bands that play here.

That bothered me, too

Op, you shouldn't have an issue getting a seat if you arrive at 5ish. Cheese plate is a good option. I've never really had a full meal there. We typically just snack on some small plates/cheese.

Go sign up for their email list. The send out an email on Thurs that has the menu for the weekend, together with the musical line-up. Menu changes weekly, but normally has both seafood, meat and vegetarian options. Great cheese selection that is plated with bread and accoutrements. 5-6 will get you a table typically. After that, good chance your waiting.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the layout, but you walk into a wine shop the employees are very helpful with selecting wines that will match your tastes. Also upon entry there is a refrigerator to you left that has different cheese selections. One of my favorite is Truffle Tremor.

Anyway, you bring the cheese and wine up to the counter, they'll plate the cheese (served with bread and accoutrements) and bring it to your table. Don't forget to grab your wine glasses near the door on the way to the courtyard. If you're getting white wine there are buckets and ice near the back exit of the wine shop, too.

Get your table first. Then one person go inside and get the wine and come back, then go and order food from the window outside. Always get the table first and keep it. People will give you their left nut for a table come 8.
