Attn Houston F&D'ers. Looking for a whiskey and/or craft beer bar

I am headed to the cigar festival in Houston this weekend and looking for a nice bar to belly up to before the event. The hotel and festival are north of town, right around the willowbrook mall. What restaurants and bars do you recommend us visiting that day/night? TIA

How far a boy like yaself willing to travel? I ain't got nothing that far north, but in a 20-25 minute drive I can have a number of recs

If you don't mind a ride into mid-town, Hay Merchant is a good choice.
