I picked up some asparagus to cook but have no idea how. We are at the beach and only have an oven and an electric stove top. I like the taste of it roasted. Can that be done in the oven? Tips and techniques would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Spray? Like Pam? I have a bottle of olive oil and a can of spray but I don't think it's olive oil.

Use the olive oil. Bake on a cookie sheet and you'll get that roasted quality you're looking for.

Just to clarify. Olive oil, salt and bake for 20 minutes? Do I have to turn them?

I like steamed asparagus. I don't even season it with anything. Cut off and throw away the bottom inch or so before cooking.

Just go to the asparagus isle at Albertson's and buy the canned, soft ones.

Sprinkle with olive oil, salt and pepper. Broil on high for 8 minutes. Shake the pan after 4.

This is how I cook them. I also drizzle some balsamic vinegar on them as well as olive oil.

I wrap them in foil, cover with homemade balsamic vinaigrette, and put on the top rack of the grill to basically boil in it. Or just roast it like I do broccoli or Brussels with olive oil, lemon juice, and Parmesan.

I put them on a cookie sheet and drizzle with olive oil and salt and pepper them. Then I bake for 8-10 minutes on 425, depending on size maybe more or less time. I take them out and put some grated parmesian cheese on top and broil until the cheese is melted. I also do this with broccoli.

Put them on a foil lined baking sheet (the foil is for easy cleanup). Edit: Preheat your oven to at least 325. Toss the trimmed asparagus in olive oil and put them on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Bake for about 20 minutes or until they are to your liking. I like mine to be a bit roasted. You can grate parm cheese over them when done or add a little lemon juice or balsamic vinegar or nothing.
