As usual, the plates were full and the drinks were flowing this weekend. Friday after work, I headed to the Monteleone to catch Robin Barnes. She sings at my church, and I suggest catching a show one day. She plays at the Carousel and Polo Lounge on Fridays.

I then went to Pelican Club for dinner. I have never been before, and there Coolinary menu interested me. However, I did read the reviews on here about how you all were not impressed. I proceeded with caution and ordered a la carte instead. I ordered the rack of lamb as suggested by several posters. It wasn't that great. It had too much of a crust. As I found out with most of our plates, they overdo their cooking and presentation.

The seafood ravigote was great.

Here's their coconut pie. I didn't know what this was when it came to the table. It looks like some teenager with art aspirations threw this together. The pie was good without all the other shite on it.

The atmosphere was great, but the food left me wanting a lot more. I was unimpressed. I will wait a while before returning.

I awoke Saturday craving meat for breakfast. I grabbed some coffee and walked to the Rib Room. The Quarter is always amazing in the morning. I ordered the debris omelet and cheese grits.

When it came to the table, I was curious if it was mayo or horseradish on top of the cheese. Either way, I was diving in. The omelet was amazing. 9/10. The Rib Room also offers a $20 buffet with an omelet bar. I'm not much of a buffet fan.

After breakfast, I walked around and decided to go bar hopping before heading to Mid-Summer Mardi Gras later in the evening.

I ate at Ninja pre-parade. The meal was so awful, I will not post any pics. I walked to the bathroom to spit out a piece of fish. I will never return.

On Sunday I went to mass, then walked to Port of Call. I love meat. I ordered the bleu cheese burger and loaded potato. It was clutch as usual and remains on my top 3 burgers list.

After experiencing that beefy wet dream, I went to Lafitte's to do a little pre-fantasy draft drinking to get my mind right. I brought a jug of purple drank to the draft for the losers.

After the draft, I needed to reload. I got a 3 piece spicy with side of beans. Popeyes is not my favorite place, but it's proximity to my place is a plus. They have fooled us all by calling their product chicken, when in reality it's pigeon.

And what's this?? Rice with a drizzle of bean sauce?

Al would be disappointed.

Until next Monday, stay fat my friends.

It's become a running joke. I wish I would have gotten Dolce Vita. But I wanted some pigeon.

I think the Rib Room is underrated. The room is beautiful and sounds great with the small jazz band. The food is always good and it's just a nice experience always.

Nice review. Not surprised to hear about the Pelican Club.

That burger from Port of Call looks damn fine.

How much did they charge you for that jug of Voodoo?

day drinking in the FQ is one of my top 3 favorite things to do in the city. I love the people watching aspect, and there is almost always a bar to hop in which I have never been.

Likely uptown Friday. I'm likely attending the Newman jamboree. Then it will be a Decadent weekend. I can almost taste the rainbow.

I love the mixture of sweat and man juices that covers the body after walking past Bourbon and St. Ann.

I'm working on my playlist for the festivities.

I'm just surprised they put so much. I like bleu cheese, but I think that would be a bit strong for me.
