Arby's is bringing its deer-meat sandwich to Alabama.

The chain, best known for its roast beef, introduced the venison sandwich last year but only in six states - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Georgia. This year, starting on Oct. 21, the sandwiches will be available at every Arby's location, including its Alabama restaurants.

All I want to know is how are they making a piece of Venison that thick, biteable for a sandwich

That looks like a great steak cut

I didn’t think there would be enough readily available venison. I was wrong.

Deer farming is one of the fastest growing industries in rural America, and it is a great alternative agricultural pursuit for families. Compared to traditional livestock, the deer industry is booming. It generates $3 billion for the U.S. economy and supports tens of thousands of jobs in communities across the country. In fact, a Texas A&M study reports deer farming as one of the fastest growing industries in rural America.

Your title is a little misleading, this nasty sandwich will be available nation-wide!

On the radio this morning they said the venison was grass-fed Elk from New Zealand.

This is usually the case. Arby's is also doing an Elk burger in CO, WY, MN.

But the reasoning for this is the difference in game laws. In the US, game belongs to the people, not the land owner. Therefore it is illegal to sell wild game (somehow the fisheries messed this up).

In New Zealand, the land owner owns all of the animals on his land. So he can do with it as he pleases

It will be overcooked. Nothing worse than overcooked deer.

What do you mean?

Like raising deer, elk, bison in a pen? That's obviously an option but there are many laws regarding the transport of live cervid animals across state lines due to disease spreading like CWD and EHD which makes this tough.

The Venison Sandwich is back for a limited-time only. (Arby's) The famed “home of the meats” is expanding that title to include deer and elk. Arby’s is bringing back the fan-favorite Venison Sandwich as well as rolling out a completely new item, the Elk Sandwich – just in time to kick off hunting season.

The sandwiches will be available October 21, but only while supplies last, the fast food chain said in a press release.

Last year, the Venison Sandwich was released in only five states and "sold out within hours." Arby's sandwich Arby's The Venison Sandwich and Elk Sandwich are coming to Arby's restaurants around the country while supplies last. (Arby's) “The positive response to our limited offering of venison last year was so widespread and passionate that we knew we had to find a way to offer it nationwide,” said Jim Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer of Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc.

This year, the thick-cut deer meat, marinated in garlic and topped with a juniper-infused Cabernet steak sauce and crispy onions will be available in all states for a limited time. However, the juicy elk steak sandwich, drenched in a blackberry port steak sauce and loaded on a toasted specialty roll, is only at restaurants in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.

The venison is farm-raised and not wild game.

Had a friend of mine try it here in the Marietta, OH area. He said it was pretty good. Hopefully they made it out of the deer we hit. Damn thing cost me about 3500 in damages.
